Robotics Design and Engineering Through the integration of AI functionalities

I Know How (IKH) is a Greek SME founded in 2002. With a total of 130 employees, including 30 dedicated to the robotics and automation department, IKH develops customized robotic solutions for their clients. Additionally, they actively participate in European projects and other research initiatives.

As IKH expanded into larger-scale production, they encountered challenges during the transition from the design phase to manufacturing on the shop floor. Specifically, certain components deviated from specifications due to exceeded tolerances in externally produced welded pieces. These issues were difficult to predict during the initial design process.

To address these challenges, IKH is participating in the RobnAI  experiment. In this endeavor, they will leverage generative AI to propose 3D-printable solids with optimized topology that meet structural requirements.

These redesigned components will be easier to manufacture, involve fewer fabrication steps, and reduce material and cost. Once the proposed designs undergo necessary analysis, they will be directly exported for 3D printing, thereby avoiding unexpected deviations and tolerances associated with welding.

This innovative approach promises to enhance efficiency and precision in IKH's production processes.
