AI for SME Food Manufacturing Planning

The ARALCO company is a family-owned business that has been operating in Greece since 1978. They specialize in spice mixes and some confectionary products, such as syrups and pigments.

They face some challenges as a small family company. The level of digitization and automation in their processes is low, and they mainly rely on manual or Excel-based systems for planning. They must deal with variable demands that may range from kilos to tons, and often must prioritize large orders by halting smaller ones. They are also affected by unpredicted problems such as machine breakdowns, operator absences or supplier delays.Their challenge is to improve the agility and efficiency of their planning, as well as the sustainability of our operations.

To achieve this, the company will perform the AROMA experiment in collaboration with AIRISE.

This experiment will involve the implementation of AI decision support tools for execution planning as well as capability and performance monitoring for  increased production efficiency.
